    Deluge of webmaster forums

Anyone else feel that there are just too many webmaster sites starting up in recent years? I was a member of WebProWorld years ago and it was a thriving and vibrant community until the mods went power mad and most of us left. Now it seems there is a new webmaster forum springing up every week. This means we end up with the knowledge pool getting spread too thin as nobody is going to join every forum and post their tutorials etc on every forum they are a member of. We wouldn't get time to actually do any work if we did.

WebProWorld only really got the userbase it did because it was owned by a search engine and most of us got automatically signed up when we submitted our sites to that engine.

Now we're getting forums offering free hosting or running competitions in an attempt to get more members and posts but this is going to result in a poor userbase in my opinion. People joining for the wrong reasons.

As I have said before I was asked to join LovingTech a few years ago by Ryan but nothing was really done to keep it active and so now it is festering and I have been made admin. In fact I'm probably the only long term member who visits it frequently. I am tempted to just message everyone on there and get them to join here instead in an effort to make one forum the place to be and this forums choice of forum script, ie a paid one over a free one, does make it seem like the owner is prepared to put the work in.

    Just my opinion.

    Moved to Webmaster Discussion.

I definitely agree with you. It's the same thing with promotion forums. There's a butt load of promotion and webmaster based forums, simply because users think it's an easy way to get a successful forum. I don't agree with users creating all these types of forums, but some people are just desperate for a successful forum.

This is why I feel we should all pick one forum and do our best to promote that forum and use it for our main discussions. I may start to copy some of my blog tutorials over here. Obviously not the most successful ones as that would be counterproductive for me but some of my lesser PHP ones.

Well I actually expected more intelligent input on this thread but guess I was expecting to much.
