I haven't used Softaculous yet. But fantastico has worked for me!

Soft is actually a very nice system, have used it before. fant is falling behind.

Softaculous is one of the installer that allows the users to install many web application easily and quickly. whereas ,Fantastico is the most popular and one-click script installer and enables the user to install dozens of open source web applications for cPanel server

however, sofatculous there is wide range of applications that can be installed in Softaculous which includes web portals, e-commerce solutions, forums, blogs, CMS and more. It has simple to use features and also has features for the back-up of applications or installation at any time.

futhermore, in fantastico this installer is also helpful for installing CMS, image galleries, shopping carts, polls and lots more. A newbie can also install it manually who even don't know how to create MySQL database and other complex steps related to installation.

I think Fantastico is better for installing web applications than softaculous. even dhost also use fantastico.

Personally I like Fantastico because of the ease of GUI it offers and even a newbie can work on it easily.

Softaculous have many kinds of scripts. So, I like it most.

As my opinion Softaculous is better for installation of web application, CMS etc.
