I 'd like to go with Kayako software for live chat. It is the one of best help desk software that lets you manage email, tickets, live chat, calls and remote support (24*7) all in a one place. Kayako gives its bestest results.

Even one of the India's largest Reseller hosting company DHost using this Kayako software for helping their customer with live chat.

livezilla is quite possibly the best, but since there latest version they have now started charging for it, so download a previous version to not have to pay

Also, what are the paid paid ones?

I heard LiveChat is pretty decent.
I agree with Arariel. I like LiveZilla Classic (FREE Version) Its a perfectly good system that will suit the needs of most service providers. However I'm not sure if they still offer the free version on their site.

COMM100 is also a good system plus they also have an iPhone app as a bonus.

    I also recommend LiveZilla.
I never had any problems with it and it has nice features, like real-time visitor monitorings, online support of customers, webcam chats and others..
LiveChat, there is only a free trial version, same with kayako..
