Thread: Who is the oldest hosting company?

Does anyone know which hosting company is been in business the longest?

HostGator is the oldest company.

I would say HostGator. It has been around for years and years, providing quality Shared, Reseller, VPS and Dedicated hosting. They are good, and have thousands and thousands of customers to support.

You guys don't know that for a fact. I don't see how you'd find out tbh.

I know my provider has been open since 1997 which is around the internet boom era. I haven't seen many opened earlier than that.

I apologize for what I'd say, but saying that HostGator is "the oldest" hosting provider is absolute ignorance. Anyone can go and check the Whois.sc to see when their domain was registered. We have been in business with hostcolor.com domain for 10 years, while HG domain has been registered 10 month after ours.

However there are many web hosting provides that are older than HG. Lunarpages domain is registered in 2001. Hostway was around since 1998. Tehre are many other web hosts that are bigger, better and have been longer in business than HG. HostGator do not even use their own ASN for their own domain. They are totally dependent on Softlayer (now ThePlanet). I do not mean to say anything negative about this company. There are just many people around who don't know nothing about the web hosting industry and just talk the talk.

We archive age of Hostgator is showing 2002. So I have some doubt if it is the oldest or not. Because the company like Bluehost is also showing age 2000! And I am sure there are many older than that, because website were live before 2000.

I read somewhere that AT&T have been providing web hosting services longer than anyone else, through one of their divisions.

I know aspnix.com is one of the oldest hosting companies.

I thin 1&1 is the oldest one but i my self prefer Hostgator. Hostgator is a great hosting company.
