I found a great forum community with open source software for a forum.
Simple Machines
Simple Machines is alright, but to me it seems like they haven't been keeping up with the forum scene in the past like, two years.
SMF has had some issues recently with a lot of staff leaving and forming a splinter group but SMF is still one of the best free forum scripts available.
MyBB is terrible from my experience.
SMF is still pretty good. Although not comparable to phpbb and vb, it still has a lot of features needed to create a successful forum. MyBB is only for small scale forums.
Why was it terrible?
Do you consider http://hackforums.net to be a "small scale forum"?Originally Posted by akira

Hi,i have had my forum with Simple Machines for four months .Have not been hacked yet.
Personally I'd say SMF is better than phpBB just for ease of modding if nothing else.
As to why I find MyBB terrible, well maybe not terrible but not the best. It just feels clunky. I'm an admin on a MyBB forum and it's just not that easy. I have seen worse though when perusing OpensourceCMS.
SMF and phbBB. I have tried both. Now I am using SMF forums in my website.
