There's no such thing as unlimited anything, so never assume there is!

Alex is right, there is no such thing as "unlimited" the more accurate term would be "unmetered" which means basically, they don't actively monitor how much bandwidth your using... UNTIL you start using A LOT. Then they have terms etc which say they can terminate heavy users etc.

Agreed with the above posters. If you're going to have a site with high volumes of traffic, stay away from Unlimited/Unmetered hosting plans. You might lose valuable visitors or content and you won't have a say on anything.

Unlimited hosting provider are unreliable. They advertise unlimited resource but directly suspend a website without any notification due to over usage. You should always look for a Reliable provider who offers fixed amount of resources and allows you to switch the hosting plan in between if your site grows.

Well, companies usually will shutdown sites that have extreme traffic. I don't offer these unmetered plans because I don't want to lie to my customers. This is really just a bait & switch situation. They get you in with this "unmetered" stuff, then switch it around an cut you off. All hosts should only give out metered plans.

That's a leading question, vanlill20 and basically just directs everyone down the path to discuss unlimited bandwidth. What do you mean your websites stopped? Did they go offline? Or did you just notice a drop in visitors from your analytics programs.

Providing unlimited resources is practically not possible. You can have huge but limited resources if you opt for a dedicated server. The word Unlimited is just a marketing stratergy adopted by hosting companies to convert prospects to clients. There are certain restrictions or hidden stipulations which you are aware about once you have a hosting with such companies.

thats right, unlimited is only a marketing method.

If you have a website with extreme traffic i would suggest you to get a VPS.

No point selling unlimited, it doesn't exist. Foolish to fall for such a plan.
