    Truncating Signature Row Length

I think 4 lines is sufficient for a signature, thoughts?

I don't really see why all of a sudden we're going to cut the signature size, but if we have to, four sounds good.

So far, there hasn't been any issue with sig lengths.
    (I could be wrong)

Most forums that I frequent limit signature rows to either 3 or 4, so limiting this to 4 wouldn't be an issue for me, but does it really matter unless the structure of the forum is being affected adversely?

I haven't seen any issues lately, but I suppose it isn't a terrible idea, I'd be fine with it considering I don't even use a signature at the moment.

To me a signature should just be a quick bit on how or what you're representing. For me however, I don't want to be scrolling through posts and find 20 lines of signature to get to the next post. It's a lot of added scrolling.

Right, but have you actually had to do that yet? I'd hope people are smart enough to know when their signature is obnoxiously long in length.

Well in all fairness I won't say the user's name however it was quite extravagant.

Why not just PM this user and tell them to shorten it? It's not like it's a growing problem. If it was, I could understand implementing this, but right now, in my opinion, it seems like something minor.

It is not an isolated 'user' incident. As an administrator these are things that I look to maximize user experience. I noticed it today and thought perhaps a signature length should be implemented. In addition, if it is not against the rules then I should have no gripe with the user and have no reason to contact that individual.

Signature limitations may hurt users. I think a better idea would be to establish a pixel by pixel limit.

Most major forums such as Proboards Support do that.
