Post limit before new users can edit signature

This is one way to help counteract spam. Make it so users have to have a certain amount of posts before being able to edit their sigs. Some users *cough* spam bots *cough* will register, edit their sig right away, then never return unless they're activated.

It's already set to 5 posts before signatures can be applied.

Indeed. If you make it too high then everyone manually posts a signature, which is my #1 pet peeve and you will receive an infraction when I find you. Repeat offenders you've been warned .

I believe the introduction section should not count towards Posts. This way, saying "Hello, welcome to WBB" over and over doesn't get you a signature. Everyday I log in someone goes back and writes on every introduction post.

Second solution. After 7-10 days the thread automatically closes.

    Thoughts?

The second solution seems best. The problem that I think we both see are new users registering and replying to old welcome threads.

Indeed, we've narrowed down the issue and have a potential best practice solution.

If you don't mind, are those users spam bots, or? I just find it odd they all reply to welcome threads.

.-. Joy. Disabling post counts and signature should prove effective. Hopefully.
