On some forums, they'll have a lead/head moderator, someone who is in charge of all the mods. Do you use a a head moderator, or are all your mods equal?
I've tried having a head moderator at one point, and it can be very effective if you have quite a few mods.
Have a problem, or just a general question about WBB? Post in Support, or email me @ seenoevil4@yahoo.com
I don't. I just have 2 regular mods so me and my co-admins are the ones in charge of them. I do have a global mod too, but she's not 'in charge' of the other 2.
We have the same mod level and rank for each moderator. It's just easier and if anything goes wrong myself or my co-admin can step in. Plus we only have two moderators and they are easy to get on with so I find no reason to have a moderator that overpowers them.
I am Chief of Staff and used to be the Super Mod. However, Jess and I basically discuss anything & everything to do with WBB. In any event, I haven't been able to find a quality replacement to myself. However, our individual mods are doing a great effort.
In our infancy stages it is best to go with an Admin or Sr member of the team to coordinate all of this rather than outside Mods. In the future I am sure we will lean towards this model.
I do not have a lead Mod. I like to keep all the mods equal with only the admins above them.

Personally, I am in charge of the all the mods(I am the admin). I don't really believe in a "chief of staff" because it just seems like they got the easy job of sitting around reprimanding staff for dumb mistakes. I do that if I have to, but it's not my job!![]()

if you own a large community then its a nice idea !
for small communities it can cause some jealousy in between staffs![]()
I've never had a lead mod before or even seen one on any forums I've been a member. I think there's a general expected hierarchy that the admin is the head, and then global moderators are next, and then regular moderators of sub-forums are next. While there might not be a lead moderator, the global mods would make more rulings and tough decisions than regular mods would if there's an issue and the admin isn't available. They would also be the ones that mods would ask for help making calls or dealing with trouble makers, etc.
