Thread: People who only post to get picked as Moderators

2 weeks ago a guy joined my site and started posting right away. He remained active until he PMed me and asked me "Can I be a mod?". As of right now I'm not needing anymore moderators, so I said no. He automatically logged off and hasn't logged in ever since.

It pisses me off that some people can be that power hungry

I'll admit, I did this when I was younger. I've personally never had a problem with a user doing that, but it's something I'd freaking hate if it did happen. Unless you were personally invited, or answered a job ad, you should never join just to become staff. People really aren't smart. Do you really think you're gonna become staff just because you joined, posted a lot, and then asked for it? There are members who have been there longer and deserve it more than you.

I really think this is just a teenager thing. To be fair, at least the guy did post for a couple weeks before asking for a position. It sure beats the ones who join and immediately start bugging you about wanting to be a moderator, right?

He obviously joined the forum for the wrong reasons . Hope you didn't link him here =].

I haven't seen this happen much but it's annoying when it does happen especially if they keep bugging you about it

I agree. Someone like that is just looking for a quick promotion and is not likely to stick around when the going gets tough. I try and screen my staff for members like that, but you never know
