    Question Age of Staff?

When hiring staff, do you look at the age of each person? Do you care what ages you hire?

I am always looking for good partners for sites. If you have a idea or would like to try and work on a project, just PM me. I have VB4 we can use for the site if you want.

For me, they must provide identification especially when hiring at business level. As by law 18+ is what I recruit, when i do.

Just so it is clear, I am talking about hiring for forums and blog type sites. In some cases you could be paid for jobs like this. But in most cases these are non paid jobs.

It all depends on what you're looking for realistically. I wouldn't hire anyone for YIPFolio that doesn't have a college degree with a masters in Business (in particular Accounting, Finance & Management), but at the same time if its regarding a forum I would go by knowledge. However, generally speaking, the more mature you are the older you tend to be.

Knowledge and the ability to excel at your position are our main requirements. Like Doug said, knowledge generally goes hand in hand with age, but I've seen some exceptionally gifted teenagers.

When appointing a member of staff there are several points I look at; Knowledge is the most important, if the person doesn't have a good knowledge of your company or about the position they are applying for then what is the point in taking them on?; Another point is can you work with the person? do they seem the type of person you could work with? An added bonus is contacts, does the person have any contacts that they would be able to use to either help you expand into a sector which you currently do not have a strong hold in? or can they help in expanding your hold in the sector you currently target.

There are exceptions to every rule . I agree sometimes younger adults have that IT factor. They just have it. The knowledge, the know how, the ability to get it done and learn it quickly.

I think depending on the business and industry you are in sometimes age can matter for the post you are hiring for. But nonetheless we all know hiring a staff member has multiple aspects to it. Age, knowledge/experience, professionalism, recommendations, and education.

For me age is a small requirement, they may be 13 but I will still hire them (if I had a forum). It all comes down to maturity, honesty and also their knowledge (in this case it is forums). If they are mature, then who will care if he is 13 (unless some people), some 13 year old are better Moderators and Administrators than 18 Year olds but obviously don't hire a 10 year old or a 8 year old.

If you believe that they are fit for their job and they have proven that they are able to, then I see no reason why not to promote them.
