What do you think are some of the most important things to make sure you do before releasing your site to the public?
I think it's really important to have your domain decided on and a good logo or banner in place. I think it's also key to know what your goals are with the site. Like who is your audience, are you doing it to make money, etc.

Well you need to have some content on all the forums, you can't just open it with most of the forum empty. And yes a good logo and favicon can help make member register. And if you are in it to make some easy money. Then a donation system will help and ads as well.
Well, I saw one this morning that made me jump back about 3 feet because it leaped right out at me - and not in a good wayYou need to match your target audience to how you're branding your products, services or messages. You need to do keyword research to determine what keyword phrases best match your business or organization. You need to test your navigation to see if it's intuitive, or if you have any broken links. Test the back button to see if it works (I found one this morning that didn't). The list goes on and on. Oh, and at least do a spell check for obvious errors. Order Dow isn't professional.

Before I launch a site for a client I always make sure there are no spelling errors and typos. Since this is how they are presenting themselves to the world it would be unprofessional to have typos and errors in their content. I also make sure all the links are good and that there are no 404 errors. Making sure that the website is cross browser compatible is also crucial.

Hi Jessi, I would say design and usability. If the users don't understand the site they aren't going to use it. Also having a nice clean design is so important.

One of the key things I would recommend is making sure all the linked pages work. Worst thing that can happen is having pages that get errors.
