2 Reasons why I am not liking WordPress

    Hello,
Over the years I have used WordPress off and on. Granted it is easy to use, I have 2 serious issues with WordPress

    1) Security - As a web host, I often see sites get hacked, it seems every day a new exploit for Wordpress is being discovered and used to deface websites

    2) Comment Spam - I opened a new blog 2 weeks ago (shamelesshosts.com) and already I have seen over 35 comment spams

    Yes I agree.

I like the ease of use, but security does concern me, and comment spam. I have set it up on my blog so that all comments have to be approved first, so at least they do not appear.

    PS sent you a pm

I've also seen comment spam with junk even with sites new as 2-3days old.

Also fedup with this. I get one of my client's web hacked almost every weak and get complain about server security. Mostly users do not update their wordpress and thus they are hacked easily.

Don't worry about this. Just use re-captcha plugin and your spam injections will be decreased to 99%. I got daily more than 200 spam comments and only 2 or 3 after using this plugin. You can see that I am using this for my blog.

How this will detect comment spam?

I've already had over 5,800 spam comments on my blog detected by Akismet this month - and it's only the 6th. Security is a huge issue if you don't keep your versions updated.

The good news is if you're getting 5800 spam comments your blog must be quite popular ! Interesting to hear though as I am about to publish a new blog.

Just an update, using some plugins, I have cut down the spam quite a bit.

I have already had 12 attempted intrusions, 9 blocked by cloudflare, a few others blocked by some modifications.

Yeah, Wordpress does have a lot of vulnerabilities ! about the spam comments, There was a spam control plugin, I can't remember the name, but it does exist.
