Benefits of Forum over a blog from SEO point of view

Let us discuss the benefits of Forum over a blog from SEO point of view in this post. I will start with the first one, since forums have a lot of members the addition of new content and updation o the existing content is better than a simple blog or website.

SEO isn't my strong point! There is a lot of confusing and conflicting information out there, however, the one thing I have learned is that new daily content to a website or blog is good for search engine ranking! I have a blog, I have twitter, I have a website! So then I thought what would be the best way to get new content everyday from all different points of view, that's when I decided to put a forum together.

I know I have to build the forum up with members etc but once there are a good few members posting each day, that should hopefully generate unique, relevant content and improve search engine position and in turn drive more members.

Everyone has an opinion on health, fitness, nutrition, diets etc and I know there are thousands of forums out there relating to this genre but I am hoping that with my qualifications and experience that I will gain the confidence of my members. I also have moderators that are Personal Trainers so it will grow to be a very good community.

So for me, a forum is the better option!

Sure, Forums have a faster content flow, but its also about quality over quantity. SEO is always going to be easier and better for a blog updated with proper articles every day as there are more keywords related to your site for search engines to pick up. Forum posts are usually far too short and poor quality for the search engines to even bother with them

This is true that forum posts are not of that much quality but if you have a good moderation team at the forum the scenario could be better. Again the benefit is that members discuss recent topics that people search on search engines.

forums are a more 2 way or 3 way form of discussions. under a blog, you generaly have posts for one static article written by someone and your conversation has to stay on that. in forums you can go way ward and anytime you need to write something really way ward, start a new thread!

Forums are content bait, they drive on community created content. All content is user generated and with a blog you cannot match the amount of content created by hundereds of users.

i will say that forum will get indexed more due to the quality of the thread which considered as different sub-page. Other that than, i dont see any other advantages, the SEO is actually same for both forum and blog or website

Forum has more monetization aspects, you can include paid memberships, sponsored sections in addition to general advertisements.
