    Is there a fee for transferring a domain name to Cheap Domain Name Registrar?

    Yes there will be a fee while transfering but some provider may put discount while transferring. if you are form any other registrar other than namecheap , i recommend you to move to namecheap.

    You have to pay for transferring the domain but you can also host the same domain with new hosting providers by just updating the name server details.

    Yes, domain transfers are chargeable. You can host a domain on any server or with any hosting provider for free by updating the nameservers and pointing them to the correct server.

    If you are transferring the registration of a domain between registrars there is a fee; however, the fee will generally-- but not always-- extended the registration of the domain a year. You will want to review that and the cost of renewals at the domain registrar that you are thinking of transferring to before completing the transfer.

    If you just wish to host your domain with a different company than you purchased the domain from there is no fee to change the DNS to point the domain to your host. However, you will generally pay the host a fee for the services you are purchasing from them.

    Usually the fee would be waived if you choose the right registrar to transfer to. I got all of my domain transfers waived.
