Has anyone here ever used the Ubuntu Operating System? It's free, and has large group of satisfied users. Now, you can run is alongside Windows. It's a big change, but I'm tempted to try it. I've even seen Ubuntu for Linux servers as well. Any comments on Ubuntu? And Ubuntu servers in particular? It would be nice to hear a little more about it.

I've been using Ubuntu since version 8.04 and I like it a lot. However, I'm not a huge fan of Unity and I have tried other distros too. I have Xubuntu 11.10 installed on my desktop atm with Wubi as it uses a lighter format then GNOME3. I also like the look and feel of Xubuntu as opposed to Ubuntu's unity.![]()
I think i'll be slapping Xubuntu on my netbook to see how it runsHowever, I am an ubuntu fan.

I never use it though I have a free Ubuntu OS because it is an open source. It is just that the interface is a bit complicated for me to navigate because it is far different from Windows.
Its obviously a best and free OS.But no doubt work on ubuntu is something different then Window.
I am not very sure about the server wise, but i am using Ubuntu for my PC, it's really cool to work on Linux operating system![]()
Ubuntu is very user friendly (compared to other Linux distros!). No many people like Unity though, so you might find that you prefer Linux Mint. Its based on ubuntu so has a similar ease-of-use.
I've never sampled it myself... I mean, thats an unusual os for me... and I don't know if its compatible or not with windows or macs.
Ubuntu is a basic for the Programmers and its used for Only Server Administration and the coming to microsoft os's both server and client operating systems are there
